Vianord CLASSIC discontinued

At their August 6, 2021 meeting, the Leadership of Vianord Engineering made a motion to discontinue the CLASSIC family of equipment, effective immediately.

After much consideration, this decision was made based on substantial research around a number of factors including demand, capacity, and production implications, where the most considerable reason was the low demand.

“While we understand and appreciate the benefits that CLASSIC provides to a small number of customers around the globe, the needs of the wider market continue to be our priority,” says Matteo Pecar, General Manager of Vianord. “Nowadays shortage of raw material is an additional concern and tough decisions need to be made.”

Shortage of metal and electronics is having an impact on the production of equipment in the entire world and Vianord is not exempt from that.

Demand for platemaking equipment recovered in 2021 after a drop in production due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the corresponding lockdown measures. But while Vianord immediately reorganized to re-increase their production, the suppliers of raw material did not manage to grow accordingly.

The markets for metal and electronics have been under great pressure for several months, and the negative consequences of raw material shortages and price increases are seriously impacting the production of platemaking systems.

“It is never easy to discontinue a product and this decision was not made lightly. Standard production practices across the company weighed heavily on Vianord’s decision.” continued Matteo Pecar. “The original purpose of the CLASSIC Line was to offer a basic system as opposed to higher performing EVO equipment. In spite of the original assumption which was calling for a system with basic features and reduced price, the market continued to demand high quality premium systems and the orders for CLASSIC did not increase enough to justify a production line.”
